Yiwu Black Tea

Yiwu Black Tea is produced in Yiwu Town, located in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province. This region, with an average altitude of 1200–1500 meters, benefits from abundant rainfall (1500–1900 mm annually) and a tropical rainforest climate, creating ideal conditions for tea cultivation. Yiwu is part of the renowned Six Great Tea Mountains and is famous for its unique tea-growing ecology.

The tea is made from the Yunnan Da Ye Zhong variety, using one bud and three leaves, and is hand-picked between March 25 and May 30 each year. The processing involves pan-firing, rolling, sun-drying, and fermentation. This traditional technique produces tea with large, tightly rolled leaves, a deep reddish-black color, and a shiny surface.

Yiwu Black Tea is distinguished by its “forest-like” character, reflecting the pristine environment where the tea is grown. Its aroma combines floral and fruity notes with a hint of honey. The infusion is bright red and clear, offering a smooth, sweet taste with a delicate interplay of floral and fruity tones. The tea’s texture is soft and silky, with a lingering aftertaste that leaves a refreshing sensation.

For brewing, use 7–8 grams of tea per 100ml teapot, with water heated to 95–100°C. Rinse the leaves briefly before the first steep. Steep the tea for 10–20 seconds initially, adjusting steeping time for subsequent brews to explore its layers of flavor. The tea is well-suited for multiple infusions, each revealing new dimensions of its character.

Packed with tea polyphenols, flavonoids, and amino acids, Yiwu Black Tea supports digestion, promotes relaxation, and provides a soothing tea experience.
