A tea table used in a traditional tea ceremony is known as a chaban or simply a tea table. It is an important element of the  tea ceremony, which is a cultural practice centered around the preparation and presentation of loose leaf tea.

The chaban is  used in the tea ceremony is typically a low table made of wood, with a simple and elegant design. The table is set with a tea bowl, a bamboo whisk, and a bamboo scoop, and may also have a flower arrangement or other decorative elements. The guests sit on tatami mats around the table, and the tea ceremony is conducted by a host who prepares and serves the tea with precision and care.

The chaban is an essential element of the tea ceremony, as it represents the spirit of hospitality and harmony that is central to the practice. Its design and placement are carefully chosen to create a tranquil and inviting space that is conducive to the contemplation and enjoyment of tea.
