Spring invites us to reflect, refresh, and reimagine. In this intimate workshop, we’ll explore stencil-making as a gentle tool for personal expression, vision-setting, and quiet exploration—through creativity, conversation, and collective making.
We’ll begin with a calming tea ceremony in Moychay’s tranquil space, letting the warmth of tea and the rhythm of presence ease us into the evening. A pin cha tea ceremony is a mindful, informal style of tea preparation rooted in Chinese tradition, focused on presence, simplicity, and connection. Unlike rushed or habitual tea drinking, it invites you to slow down, engage your senses, and experience each steep as a quiet ritual of awareness. Further, during the workshop, guided by multidisciplinary artist KNDR, we’ll then open a conversation around the meaning of shapes and symbols, and the quiet philosophy behind stencil-making.
A stencil is a cut-out form that repeats an image—like a visual echo. It can be bold or soft, abstract or symbolic. In this workshop, it becomes a lens for attention: Where is your focus going? Is it helping you express what matters?
By cutting your own design and bringing it to life, you’ll create an aesthetic portal—a visual anchor that connects you to both the moment of making and the future it points toward. Using recycled materials like cardboard and textured packaging, you’ll craft personal stencils and activate them with soft, water-based spray paint. You’ll have the chance to create individual cards and contribute to a layered collective piece—merging personal and shared visions into one artwork.
We’ll close the evening by interpreting the pieces, noticing patterns, and reflecting on what the process revealed. This is a space for introspection, creative play, and mindful connection—ideal for anyone drawn to symbolism, visual storytelling, or simply a thoughtful evening in good company.
