Black currant (Ríbes nígrum) is a perennial shrub of the Gooseberry family (Grossulariaceae). Leaves were harvested and prepared in Altai region in the summer of 2015.
Black currant leaves are a rich source of vitamine C, as well as tannins, flavonoids, phytoncides, mineral salts (manganese, copper, magnesium etc). In traditional medecine, the decoction of black currant leaves is used as a general tonic, an anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, diuretic and cleansing agent.
Preparation: put 5 g of dried leaves into a thermos, all 200 ml of boiling water, and steep for 15 - 20 min. Alternatively, use "pouring brewing method" (pouring boiling water through leaves gradually extending time of exposition) - as a separate drink or as a part of multivitamine mixtures.
