Origin and Harvest: Guzhou Province, Liping County

Ancient Red is crafted in the tradition of Gongfu Hong cha, employing the same processing technology found in Fujian Gongfu red tea. What sets this tea apart is its close proximity to a pine forest, imparting a delicate pine nuance to its flavor, a characteristic achieved through natural pine pollination during the harvest. Furthermore, Ancient Red is cultivated on organic plantations.

Dry Leaves: The dry leaves are tightly curled or twisted, showcasing dark, glossy black tea leaves with distinctive reddish tips.

Soup Color: When brewed, Ancient Red reveals a deep, reddish-brown liquor.

Taste and Aroma: Bold and robust flavor accompanied by a malty sweetness. The tea's aroma, reminiscent of sweet honey and pine forest.

Ancient Red undergoes a meticulous process, including withering, rolling, oxidation, and firing. This careful oxidation distinguishes black tea, contributing to its dark color and unique flavor.

Brewing Instructions

Water Temperature: 95-100 degrees Celsius

Amount of Leaf (per 100 ml water): 2-3 tablespoons (5-8 grams)

Steep Time: 10 seconds to 1 minute

Number of Infusions: 6-8

For optimal results, brew Ancient Red gongfu style using an earthenware Yixing pot or a lidded gaiwan with a higher leaf-to-water ratio. Use 5-8 grams (about 1 tablespoon) per 100 ml of water. After the initial 10 seconds, begin the first brew, subsequently steeping for approximately 15 seconds to 1 minute.

If using a pot with a mesh infuser, remove the leaves for the second infusion. If using a pot without an infuser, transfer the tea into a serving pitcher or directly into cups, avoiding prolonged contact with the leaves.

Consider teapots with large mesh infusers for optimal leaf expansion, removing the infuser after the preferred steeping time for subsequent infusions. Alternatively, transfer the tea into a clean, warm pot or serving pitcher. Ancient Red can be infused 6 to 8 times, adjusting temperature and steeping time with each iteration.

Ancient Red tea, with its warming properties, not only provides an energy boost but also promotes alertness.
