This Yixing teapot carries a rising dragon in high relief across its rounded body, with matching scales and cloud motifs extending over the lid, spout, and handle. The broad opening and sturdy handle make the sculptural form practical for controlled gongfu pouring.
Yixing zisha teapots developed as a distinct tradition during the Ming period and became closely associated with unglazed clay brewing. Their fitted lids and compact bodies suit repeated infusions, allowing the same pot to accompany a focused tea practice.
Made in Yixing from yellow duanni clay, it shows a warm ochre colour, sandy mineral grains, and sharply modelled relief beneath an unglazed finish. Rinse with water only, dry thoroughly, and avoid mixing strongly scented teas in one pot.
