Celebrate the season of growth, connection, and creativity with Shape of Spring — a slow, hands-on ceramic workshop hosted by Mato Ceramics in collaboration with Moychay.nl.
In this intimate session, you’ll be guided through the process of hand-building and painting your very own tea cup or matcha bowl. Using soft clay, your hands will shape something from scratch—something imperfect, personal, and entirely your own. Whether you’re crafting delicate curves or organic, playful edges, this process invites you to be fully present in the rhythm of your hands.
And since we are in a tea house, you can get inspired to make your own favourite tea cup or matcha bowl, completely in your own style.
You’ll be introduced to foundational ceramic techniques, learning how to pinch, smooth, shape, and refine a small vessel that you can later use in your own tea rituals. Once your piece is formed, you’ll move into the painting phase—selecting your palette, exploring seasonal tones, and adding details, textures, or patterns that reflect your mood or personal style.
This workshop is not just about making—it’s about slowing down, tuning in, and enjoying the moment. You’ll have access to loose-leaf tea from Moychay, along with a ceramic teapot to brew it yourself at your table, creating a gentle and grounding ritual while you work.
It’s a perfect experience whether you’re coming on your own, with a friend, as a couple, or hoping to meet new creative people in a welcoming space. No experience is needed.
NOTE: After the workshop: Your piece will be carefully glazed and kiln-fired by Mato Ceramics. It will be available for pickup 3–4 weeks later, food-safe and ready to become a cherished part of your daily routine.
