What to Expect:
Tea & Dim Sum Pairing: Enjoy a thoughtfully curated tea pairing designed to complement the textures and flavors of dim sum. Using a gong fu cha style of brewing tea, we will bring out the rich complexity of various types of loose-leaf tea, balancing the fillings of the dim sum. Along with making your own dim sum and pairing them with tea, you will learn about the history and culture of dim sum and the tea culture.
Dim Sum Workshop:
In this workshop, you’ll learn the art of dim sum, using a method that balances traditional craftsmanship with modern convenience.
• Folding Styles: Master different folding techniques, from classic pleated crescents to round bao-style dim sum, adjusting for texture and presentation.
• Cooking Methods: Explore two classic ways to prepare the dim sum—steamed, for a soft and delicate texture, and pan-fried, for a crispy golden crust with a juicy center.
• Balanced Fillings: Create perfectly seasoned dim sum fillings using fresh ingredients and harmonizing umami, sweetness, and aromatic elements. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options will be available.
Tea Experience:
• A gong fu style brewing set will be included for steeping tea throughout the evening, ensuring a continuous and evolving tasting journey.
• Discover how different tea types and the gong fu cha style of brewing enhance the flavors and textures of dim sum, from the fresh, grassy notes of green tea to the deep, roasted complexity of oolong.
