Jin Junmei is a distinguished red tea from the renowned Tongmu Guan natural reserve in Wuyishan, most famous for its smoky red tea, Lao Song Xiao Zhong.
This tea type is relatively young, having been developed only 20 years ago by the renowned local technologist Jiang Yuanxun, whose ancestors played a significant role in establishing Zhengshan Xiaozhong red tea in the region.
"Jin Junmei" in Chinese means "Golden Eyebrows" because this tea is produced solely from the buds, and the appearance of the dry tea somewhat resembles the shape of eyebrows with golden hair on them.
The traditional technology combined with modern innovations, such as shaking the leaves during withering (technically semi-fermenting), gives the tea much more delicate and aromatic characteristics compared to most other types of red tea.
