Under The Stars Sheng Puer (Harvest 2022, pressed in 2023)

€4,25

Under the Stars Sheng Puer is a well-balanced young sheng puer that is perfect for immediate enjoyment. With its mild profile and absence of roughness typical of many young sheng teas, it’s an excellent choice for those just starting their journey with sheng puer. While it has some potential to age, the tightly pressed brick format means it will evolve slowly over time.

Description

Leaf Appearance and Aroma

  • Dry Leaves: Tightly pressed into a 250g brick with large, beautiful white buds. The dry aroma carries a distinct sheng-smoky note, complemented by a unique bud-smoky quality often associated with white teas.
  • Wet Leaves: Develop a fresh, green aroma with subtle fruity undertones, featuring notes of gooseberries and green grapes.

Flavor Profile

  • Liquor: Thick, cloudy, and slightly rough in consistency, yet smooth enough for a young sheng.
  • Taste:
    • Balanced sweetness, bitterness, and acidity.
    • Medium strength, falling into the category of more delicate shengs.
    • Fruity flavors echoing the wet leaf aroma, with notes of gooseberries, green grapes, and green apple.
    • Background flavors of floral and bud-smoky aromas reminiscent of white teas made exclusively from buds.
