Osmanthus Scented Beauty Tea is a floral oolong made from Meiren (Beauty) tea and dan gui (sweet osmanthus) blossoms. The base tea is grown at 1100 meters in Sanming City, Fujian Province. First developed in cooperation with Taiwan in 1998, Beauty tea is harvested around the Dragon Boat Festival after being naturally bitten by small green cicadas, which enhance the tea’s fruity, honeyed flavor through a release of terpenoid compounds.
The osmanthus flowers are sourced from Pucheng, Fujian, known as the “Hometown of Osmanthus.” Scenting takes place in two stages, each lasting 8–12 hours, followed by baking and sorting. This pairing brings together the sweetness and depth of Beauty tea with the elegant, lasting fragrance of golden osmanthus blossoms.
The finished tea consists of curled, downy leaves with visible white buds and a distinctive five-color appearance: red, yellow, white, green, and brown. When brewed, it yields a golden, amber-colored liquor with a smooth, dense mouthfeel. The taste is clean, layered with honey, fruit, and floral notes, and leaves a persistent sweet aftertaste.
For hot brewing, use 6 grams of tea with water at 95°C in a gaiwan or teapot. Steep for 10 seconds in the first infusion, 15 seconds for the second, and increase gradually. For cold brewing, steep 3 grams in 330ml of mineral water for 40 minutes.
