A gourd-shaped zhurenbei, or host’s cup, combines a rounded lower body with a pronounced shoulder and open rim. The narrowed middle makes the cup comfortable to hold, while the fresh green glaze brings a bright touch to everyday tea drinking.

The gourd profile comes from a long Chinese tradition of adapting familiar natural forms for ceramic vessels, while zhurenbei means a cup for the person hosting the tea. In gongfu practice, individual cups are placed before guests for tasting and conversation.

Made in China from glazed ceramic, this cup has a soft green surface fading towards an ivory-coloured foot and interior. Rinse away tea residue after use and allow it to dry fully before putting it away.
