This square chaban uses a blue-green ceramic frame around a slatted bamboo top, combining a water-catching border with channels that lead liquid below. The smooth glazed rim gives cups and brewing vessels a secure, visually defined place on the tea table.
Chaban, or tea tray, belongs to the gongfu tea tradition, where several small vessels are handled in close succession. It receives rinsing water and overflow beneath the gaiwan or teapot, leaving the surrounding table ready for the next infusion.
This tray is made in China from glazed ceramic and bamboo. Its cool blue-green border contrasts with the insert's golden grain, while the linear grooves show the dry-brew function clearly; wipe the frame clean and dry the bamboo after use.
