Iron Rust Square Teapot # 96126

The square teapot has a compact, softly angular body, a short projecting spout and a generous loop handle for controlled pouring. Its iron-rust surface pools around the raised central pattern, giving a practical brewing vessel the character of a small ceramic object.

Chinese teapots developed as dedicated vessels for steeping and pouring loose-leaf tea, and became central to gongfu tea practice. A lidded pot is used to hold the leaves and hot water briefly, then decant the infusion into cups or a fairness pitcher.

Made in China, this stoneware-like body is covered with a dark iron-rich glaze marked by brown, grey and metallic-looking variations. The fitted lid carries a small ornamental finial. Rinse after use, remove tea leaves promptly and let every part dry.
