This ten-piece gaiwan set centres on a lidded bowl with a matching saucer, alongside a tall fairness pitcher, tea strainer, and small cups. The gaiwan lid lets you control the leaves while pouring, making it useful for detailed tasting.
The gaiwan became established as a Chinese tea vessel during the Ming period and remains central to gongfu brewing. Held by the saucer and lid, it can brew tea directly, then decant the infusion into a pitcher or cups.
Made in China, the pieces carry a rabbit-hair glaze style, with deep purple-brown surfaces and fine lighter variation near the rims. Rinse away tea promptly and dry the glazed ware before storage.
