Amber Grace Oriental Beauty (Jin Xuan Dong Fang Mei Ren)

This tea is made from the Jin Xuan cultivar — a soft-stemmed Taiwanese variety developed in the 1980s by the Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station. Known for its natural milky aroma and smooth taste, it was introduced to Fujian’s highlands through collaboration between Taiwanese and mainland tea makers.

The style Dong Fang Mei Ren — Oriental Beauty — carries a century-old legend. As the story goes, a British tea merchant once presented this unique tea to Queen Victoria. Its multicolored leaf and captivating honey-fruity fragrance impressed her so deeply that she named it “Oriental Beauty.” The name stayed, becoming a symbol of elegance among oolongs.

Harvested once a year around the Dragon Boat Festival, the young tea leaves are naturally bitten by small leafhoppers (Jacobiasca formosana), triggering light oxidation before processing begins. The tea is then sun-withered, gently shaken, and baked with precision.

The result is an amber-gold liquor with delicate notes of ripe fruit, honey, and wild herbs. Smooth, layered, and persistent, it speaks of mountains and masterful patience.
