This side-handled teapot places its bamboo-shaped handle beside the body, leaving the pouring hand clear of the heated ceramic. Its short spout and close-fitting lid suit controlled pouring during a gongfu tea session, while the side grip offers a stable hold.

Side-handled teapots are a recognised tea-ware form in East Asia, with Japanese kyusu especially associated with sencha, while Chinese teapots are also used for gongfu brewing. The compact pot is warmed, filled, and poured in repeated short infusions at the table.

This piece is made in China and finished with a dark, speckled glaze that shifts between brown, bronze, and charcoal. Rinse it with warm water after use and allow the pot to dry fully with the lid removed.
