The footed matcha cup presents a compact, rounded body with a broad rim, a practical shape for whisking and sipping concentrated tea. Its thick-looking ceramic walls and softly crackled Shino glaze hold creamy white, apricot and amber tones, while dark fired lines animate the surface.

The form belongs to the matcha bowl tradition, or chawan, whose open profile supports whisking with a bamboo whisk and drinking from the same vessel. Shino is a historical glaze style associated with the Mino kilns of Japan, particularly during the late sixteenth century.
