Jasmine Oriental Beauty is a naturally scented oolong tea made from Jin Xuan cultivar leaves and fresh jasmine blossoms. The tea is harvested by hand in mid-May at an altitude of around 1100 meters in the mountainous areas of Fujian Province, China. The Jin Xuan cultivar—originally developed in Taiwan in the 1980s for its creamy texture and floral sweetness—has since been adopted in highland gardens of Fujian, where it thrives in misty elevations and mineral-rich soils.
The oolong base is made using the traditional Oriental Beauty technique, which begins when Jacobiasca formosana (a small leafhopper) bites the leaves in early summer, triggering natural enzymatic reactions that lead to rich honeyed and fruity aromas. The leaves undergo careful withering, oxidizing (60–80%), killing green, rolling, and baking with precision to produce a full-bodied and aromatic tea.
After the oolong is prepared, it is scented using fresh jasmine flowers from Hengxian in Guangxi Province, renowned for its jasmine cultivation. Through multiple rounds of scenting and drying (including re-scenting for 8–12 hours), the tea absorbs a deep, lingering floral fragrance, perfectly complementing its inherent sweetness and complexity.
The result is a golden infusion with a layered bouquet of jasmine, honey, and ripe fruit, followed by a long-lasting aftertaste. The leaf shows a five-color spectrum: red, yellow, white, green, and brown, a hallmark of true Oriental Beauty quality.
