"仿古石瓢" (Fanggu Shipiao) literally means "antique-style stone-scoop" and refers to a modern reproduction of the classic Yixing (Zisha) teapot form known as 石瓢 (Shipiao). The Shipiao shape has long been part of the Yixing tradition that flourished from the late Ming into the Qing period: potters favored simple, functional silhouettes that suited gongfu tea practice and showcased the natural clay. The "fanggu" prefix signals an intentionally aged or historically inspired finish—patinated surfaces, traditional proportions, and restrained decoration—rather than a specific documented antique.

The Shipiao form is characterized by a low, slightly flattened, scoop-like body, a short, direct spout, a rounded lid that fits closely, and a comfortable loop handle. Its compact, balanced profile promotes steady pouring and efficient heat retention, making it popular for concentrated brewing of oolong or black teas. When executed in Yixing zisha clay, the plain exterior both highlights the clay’s texture and develops a pleasing tea patina with use.
