Japanese Tea & Floral Arrangement Evening

Moychay x Flower Studio Maer

On the 6th of December, Moychay opens its doors for a quiet, beautifully paced evening where two Japanese traditions meet: tea and flowers.

A moment to slow down, breathe, and work with your hands in a way that feels both grounding and poetic.

A Japanese Way of Tea

We begin with a tasting of sencha and hojicha — two teas that show the gentle spectrum of Japanese flavours.

Sencha offers a fresh, green clarity.

Hojicha brings a warm, roasted softness.

Brewed with attention to water, heat, and timing, both teas invite a slower rhythm and a more attentive way of experiencing taste.

The Art of the Japanese Flower Arrangement — with Flower Studio Maer

After tea, you shift into the floral part of the workshop.

Guided by Masashi (Flower Studio Maer) — a Japanese florist whose work combines traditional aesthetics with the sensibilities of a contemporary Japanese artist — you’ll learn how to create a seasonal flower arrangement shaped by Japanese principles:

• Asymmetry that introduces movement

• Negative space that lets the piece breathe

• Branches and stems used as structure rather than decoration

• A focus on line, form, and gesture

• Harmony between colours and natural shapes

You will create an arrangement using seasonal flowers and branches, guided step by step in the Japanese style.

And of course, you take your finished piece home.

This workshop uses floral foam (oasis), allowing more stability and creative freedom.
