Dian Cha & Song Dynasty Latte Art Workshop | 18 September, 18:00

€34,72

Step into a flavorful evening of hands-on cooking, culture, and tea.

A meditative journey through ancient Chinese tea rituals Before there was matcha as we know it, there was Dian Cha — an elegant, artistic form of powdered tea preparation from the Song Dynasty (960–1279). This workshop invites you into that refined and poetic world, where tea wasn’t only consumed, but celebrated through beauty, skill, and mindfulness. Led in the intimate space of Moychay Tea Culture Club, this session brings together historical practice and modern creativity, where you’ll not only learn the methods of traditional tea whisking, but also how to draw on tea foam — an ancient form of “latte art” once popular at the imperial court and among scholars.

You’ll explore:
— The history and cultural meaning of Dian Cha
— The proper tools, posture, and techniques to whisk powdered tea into a smooth foam — How to create beautiful symbols, circles, and brush patterns on the surface using natural powders and brushes
— Why this method was seen as a mindful ritual and artistic expression in ancient times

This is more than a tea class — it’s an experience of slowing down, reconnecting to your senses, and appreciating the visual and tactile aspects of tea. No prior experience needed, just curiosity and presence.
After the guided part, you’ll enjoy your tea creations together and exchange impressions in a calm and communal atmosphere.
